Terms of service
Last updated September 26, 2026
These Terms apply to the Vertex Prep website and learning service (together, the “Service”), operated by Vertex Prep LLC, 502 W 7th St Ste 100, Erie, PA 16502, United States (“Vertex,” “we,” or “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Contact support@vertex-prep.com with questions.
Age and parent permission
The Service is for students age 13 and older. We do not permit children under 13 to create accounts. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information without legally required parental consent, we will take appropriate steps to restrict the account and delete the information as required by law.
If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. A parent or guardian must authorize any purchase made by a minor and approve use of the payment method. Parents see student progress only after the student and parent accounts are linked with both users’ agreement. Either user can disconnect that link in account settings.
Paid subscriptions are currently offered only to U.S. residents using a U.S. billing address. If billing details do not match this requirement, we may pause future collection and hold access for manual review. We do not automatically cancel or refund in that situation. Contact support for review.
Subscriptions, trials, and cancellation
Before checkout, we show the plan price, billing period, trial terms if applicable, and applicable taxes. A quarterly or annual plan is charged as one payment for the full period, even when a monthly equivalent is displayed. Eligible new subscribers receive a card-backed three-day trial. Unless you cancel before it ends, the selected plan’s full billing amount is charged automatically. We send a reminder before the first charge.
You can cancel in account Settings through the billing portal. Canceling a subscription stops future renewals; it does not by itself refund a payment already made. Your paid access normally continues through the period already paid for. For paid enrollments or purchases started on or after September 26, 2026 at 7:00 PM UTC, refunds are generally not offered. You may email a refund request to support@vertex-prep.com; we review each request case by case, and a refund is not guaranteed. If you began a trial, started a checkout session, or purchased before September 26, 2026 at 7:00 PM UTC, the terms presented at that enrollment or checkout remain in force for that subscription. Where those terms provided it, this includes a full refund of the first subscription payment requested within seven days of payment. Using Vertex during a trial or refund period did not affect eligibility. Consumer rights required by law still apply. See the refund policy. Read the refund policy.
Using Vertex
Vertex provides SAT preparation, including study plans, practice questions and tests, progress reports, and a personalized AI tutor. The Service is for individual, personal study. You may not share account credentials, scrape or copy the question bank, disrupt the Service, bypass access controls, or use it unlawfully.
You keep ownership of work you create, such as saved notes and messages. You give Vertex permission to process, store, and display that work only as needed to operate, secure, and support the Service. Your tutor messages are sent to OpenAI to generate responses as described in our Privacy Policy. Do not submit sensitive personal information. The tutor can make mistakes and is not a human tutor, emergency service, or confidential counseling service.
Vertex is an independent preparation service. It does not guarantee a particular score or result. Practice scores are estimates and may not match an official SAT score. SAT is a College Board trademark; College Board does not sponsor or endorse Vertex.
Vertex content and accounts
Vertex and its licensors own the Service, software, design, and Vertex-provided learning content. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the Service while your account is active and in good standing. Do not redistribute, publish, sell, or use Vertex content to build a competing question bank or service.
Keep your sign-in details secure and provide accurate account information. You are responsible for activity under your account. Contact us promptly if you believe someone has accessed it without permission. We may restrict or suspend accounts to protect users, the Service, or the law, and will provide notice when reasonably practical.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Vertex available, but cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free service. Features and content may change as we improve the product. We will give notice of material changes to these Terms by updating this page and its revision date, and by contacting account holders when required by law. If you continue using the Service after changes take effect, the updated Terms apply to future use. If you do not agree, cancel your subscription and stop using the Service.
Privacy and student data
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how to make a privacy request. To request access, correction, or deletion, email support@vertex-prep.com. We may retain some information where needed for legal, billing, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Disclaimers and legal responsibility
The Service is provided as available. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be limited or waived. To the extent permitted by law, Vertex’s total liability for a claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid Vertex for the Service in the six months before the event giving rise to the claim, or $500, whichever is greater.
Governing law and disputes
Pennsylvania law applies to these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where your local consumer law requires otherwise. If you have a concern, contact us first at support@vertex-prep.com so we can try to resolve it. Any court proceeding must be brought in a court with jurisdiction, subject to any venue or forum rights that applicable law gives you. These Terms do not require arbitration or waive any right to bring a claim where the law allows.
